Role: Project Leader & Strategist

Banff Centre is Canada’s foremost arts training facility, founded in 1933. I was brought on to help transform Banff Centre’s website and digital marketing.

The challenge we faced was focusing the digital experience to reach many separate audiences and accomplish a wide range of disparate business and user objectives. The Centre’s core offerings include arts and leadership programs, conference, dining and hotel facilities, and the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival.

Working closely with stakeholders across departments, I created a comprehensive and accessible set of user persona guidelines and mapped out business objectives. These efforts proved critical to overcoming the central obstacle of complexity.

Following new brand guidelines developed by Pentagram, I then oversaw the development of the UX and UI, ensuring that stakeholder and user needs were met.

The project was an enormous overhaul, resulting in a measurably improved user experience and facilitating a new, content-centric approach to digital. A number of complex institutional processes were also streamlined as part of the initiative, including arts program and film festival applications.

Banff Centre’s digital transformation project gave me the opportunity to apply UX, UI and strategic knowledge to help shape the direction of a renowned Canadian institution – an impact which can still be seen and felt today.
